Christian Heinrich Kleukens
painter, graphic artist, book artist
* 1880 in Achim bei Bremen
† 1954 in Darmstadt
Christian Heinrich Kleukens was able to learn his trade as a printer in his brother's workshop in Berlin. He followed him to Darmstadt in 1907 and was also accepted as a member of the Artists' Colony in 1913. Here the brothers worked together for the "Ernst Ludwig-Presse", producing high-quality book art. After the end of the Artists' Colony, the younger Kleukens brother continued to run the "Ernst Ludwig-Presse" together with Rudolf Binding, now calling it "Kleukens-Presse" and transferring it to Mainz.
